Picked up a DSA marked flattop uppr receiver blem at the Knob Creek Machine gun shoot yesterday. It has no finish on it . I only paid $15 for it. Looks to be well machined. Is it advisable to us it for a build and would Duracoat work OK on it. How important is the finish on the inside of the receiver. Or did I just buy a paper weight ??? JR

Duracoat is fine.
No, don't need anything on the inside finish wise that is.

If you are using Duracoat, get the SL (self lubricating). It will probably hold up inside better. Make sure you let it cure awhile before shooting, I mean weeks not days.

I would look for a metal finishing house who does hard anodize. Nothing will work as well. And if they do hard anodize see if they do a teflon impregnate. It makes the finish nice and slick. If you shopped around you could probably get it done for $20, especially if you weren't in a hurry and they could run your part with some others. Be sure you know what holes or surfaces may need to be masked, hard anodize is harder than most cutting tools.
