I know I might be cheap but a $2 hockey puck and a few min with a die grinder. Definitely where a mask and it is kinda messy. Not an indoor project.

This is awesome  I've always used a 2x6 with a corner cut out but am definitely going to do this for my next build. Thanks for sharing.

Great idea. I was going to try and chisel out a 2x4 but will try the puck instead.

Polyethylene block from Brownells... relatively hard plastic that will not absorb the shock required when removing stubborn tapered pins with a hammer and punch, good.

Hard rubber hockey puck... not so much.

My son and I would have done it in the dining room and then looked around and said "Damn, there should have been a woman in the house to tell us not to do that in the house!"

Just finished mine.  Wow, does it kick up some dust.  Just got out of the shower and blew my nose 3 times.  Halfway through I almost stopped and ordered one.  Looks like it should work good, heck I'll only use it two or three times.
