I know folks have asked which wrench is better when assembling/disassembling an upper, and personally I think I'm settling on getting a Smith Industries, but I've read this and that about working over the barrel nut, etc., using any of the wrenches available.

What I'd like to know is what tool the manufacturers use. I mean they're obviously not dicking the barrel nuts up when they assemble the upper, so is this some magical tool we don't have access to, or is the barrel nut damage due to folks just not knowing what they're doing?

Thanks

I personally use Spikes Tactical tools with a torque wrench.

The more holes or teeth you can engage the better you are.  I wound up getting this one.  Pin length is great for working with free float barrel nuts.
