Looking for a basic bipod for the M4 Carbine platform. I don't need anything to fansy, just something light and not to expensive but durable. Any thoughts or suggestions? Oh, how the heck do u post pictures?

Harris bipod is excellent.

If you are really looking to save money then you can find Rock Mount bipods for less than $40.

This link is outdated, but I'll list it anyway: Posting pictures in threads

You want to first upload your photos to an online photo host like PhotoBucket for instance. Once you have your photos uploaded you simply copy & paste the 'image code' into your posts and the photo appears in your post.

No problem. Here's a YouTube video about an identical bipod called Shooter's Ridge bipod. They work just fine, but just not quite as nice a real Harris. If you don't want to spend the money on a Harris then this is what I would get. I have one of these (Rock Mount bipod from Walmart) and 2 Harris. The most noticeable differences between the two is that the Harris has a wider stance therefore is more stable. When you retract the legs on the cheap ones you can hear the springs ring within the legs where you cannot with the Harris. Harris bipods are noticeably more solid in all aspects.

The Harris bipods latch better to the swivel studs stronger in comparison. This is hard to describe, but you can tell by comparing them in person.

I would probably try a harris or a clone like shooters ridge with the AR swivel stud adapter that goes in standard handguards.

I saw a crate of these for $15 dollars each at the local army/navy.

I used a utg brand bipod. It does the job for bench shooting and so far it seems to be holding up. I bought it off amazon for 20.00. You can get it with rubber feet or just plain metle skid type feet which is what I wanted so I can move it easly on the bench.

The Rock Mount, Shooters Ridge, and Caldwell are all Harris clones.  I have a Caldwell and a Harris.  The Harris is definitely better built (more durable materials), but they both work equally well for a range gun.
