I started my first build about three years ago.  My rifle was completed 2 years ago, but it has undergone some alterations over the years .  At last, I think she is exactly to my liking.  She shoots like a dream.  Just thought I would post some picks since so many of you have helped me tremendously over the years.  Most of the build components are obvious.  The others: Daniel Defense (hammer forged) 14.5" barrel, BCM (auto) bcg.  LMT H buffer, spring, and tube.

Here she is...

Do you ever shoot that gun? Looks like its straight out of the factory, not a scratch on it.  Good looking rifle.

Thanks to all for the nice comments.

I don't shoot it as much as I would like.  Work and family life takes up much of my time.  So far about 500 rounds though...

I have not thrown it down the driveway yet .

It took me close to 4 years to finish my first build...  During that time I finished 2 thru 5.  I finally topped my first build with a .22 upper this year.  I enjoy it.

1999:  I know the feeling.  You build your first AR while still learning what you want and what works best.  Meanwhile, component technology, particularly handguards, keeps progressing.  But eventually, after considerable parts swapping, load development and fine tuning of your tastes, you arrive at perfection (at least for now).  Building an AR from scratch produces a work of art, a thing of beauty and personal pride.  When your pet rifle starts delivering tiny little 10-round groups at 100 meters, then you have arrived.  congrats - CW
