I am trying to get an idea of what I can get for my money here. Im looking for a high value build for under 1500. I want it to be the best shooting rifle possible for that amount and I can add extras down the road when I want. This will probably be the only ar15 I ever buy unless I can't use it for a duty rifle in which case I would have to buy another one(not a bad problem to have). So, I want to do it right the first time. This is what I am thinking so far:

Noveske 14.5 upper with NSR and A2

Aero precision stripped lower receiver

Troy sights

PSA Lower Build Kit MOE

I can get optics down the road and have access to mags already. Pkfirearms is within driving distance for me so ill save a little on shipping.

Would it be a good idea to upgrade to the MUR receiver for $70 and the Battlecomp for $120? I know it would go over budget but like I said, I can only really build this once.

Any suggestions would be great!!

Thanks

What is the intended purpose of the rifle?

You say best shooting, but does that mean bench rest target? Three Gun? Etc.

This rifle will be used as home defense/ shtf/ patrol carbine if allowed/ maybe 3 gun if I ever decide to do that. I want it to be extremely versatile so I can use it for all these roles. I guess when I say best shooting I mean I want the important parts to be high quality (barrel, receiver, bcg, etc) since I only want to do this once. I can always change the inexpensive stuff down the road.

I don't see a geissele in your list

Should there be? I don't know much about triggers but I thought I heard once that a competition trigger isn't good for a fighting rifle

Home Defense, SHTF, and Patrol rifle can be one item easily, but 3-Gun might require some things that tip the scales away from the more duty type use. Some of the fixed stocks, longer barrels, and non-railed handguards I have seen on a handful of 3-gun stuff would seem out of place on something aimed for a home defense gun.

Ok, let's forget about the three gun then. What do you guys think about my parts list so far?

It's good.
But if this is to be a duty rifle I would get a list of approved components from the department before buying anything.
Also if the weapon is involved in a shooting be prepared to lose it for an undetermined length of time.

Not all Geissele triggers are "competition triggers". They make full auto combat rifle triggers, DMR as well as single and two stage triggers that would be perfect for a patrol rifle. I've been told they are unbelievably good and read some worn KAC two stages are being replaced with them due to the MUCH higher round count they are surviving over the KACs. I'm ordering a SSA for my MK12 Mod O.

I don't know anything about this since I'm not a cop, so I will ask just so I know. Can a home built frankin-AR be passed by a Department for duty use?

It depends on the department, but I don't know why it would matter as long as everything is done to improve functionality. I'm not a cop yet so that's why I'm not that concerned yet. Plus if I need to buy a second rifle for duty, it would be a justifiable purchase( in the fiancés mind). But are all the parts I chose good quality? And would the MUR and battle comp be smart upgrades?

Personally I'd save a few more pennies and run a PreditAR and a set of used Troy or KAC micro sights.  This rifle should allow you to do everything you are asking and comes with a lot of added features.

Ya, that has always been in the back of my mind too. I wish I could afford the costa version. Even with a predatar I am looking at 1800 after sights and everything.

Choose your optics. Then focus your build around it.
