I'm looking real hard at a Sig 716 at my local dealer. My main holdup on buying is that after I started building my own ARs, I enjoyed building so much that I told myself I wouldn't by another complete rifle. So, I've been shopping for parts to maybe try and build a clone 716.
Any suggestions on parts to use and where to get them? Lower? Upper? Barrel? Rail? Piston? |
| Just from looking at it that upper lower combo would have to be machined for you. Ive never seen that backend before. At first glance it looks like a magpul plate of some sort but its solid and built into the upper/lower itself. For the rest you could easily find the same parts but you won't get the same look. |

The more I read about the Sig 716 online, the more I want to stay away from it. I only got to handle it for the weekend while helping a friend with his booth at a gun show. It just felt great to hold and seemed very balanced and comfortable. A couple of quick reviews I read had great reviews. However, since then, I'm reading a lot of negative reviews about accuracy issues and functioning issues. That makes me want to build my own even more.
I really do like that rail system with the milled in QD points. I'm also interested in the piston system. I've checked Adams Arms but none of their pistons mention working on a 308. I think a build is the best way to go. Now I just need to decide on a good shooting 16" barrel!!!!! |
