This is the first of many for me.  My first AR15, first build and first time posting.  I gathered a lot of info from this site and really felt the need to give back.  I also haven’t seen a lot of posts of JSE Surplus, so here goes. Hope you all enjoy my first build.

This started out with the purchase of the lower.  I decided with Spikes Tactical Lower.  Heard plenty of good things and didn’t really want to go too cheap and go polymer.  I purchased from Joeboboutfitters.  All I can say is Awesome supplier.  They shipped out that day to my FFL and within a week I had it picked up.  The lower is well made, as far as a newbie can tell.

Next came the lower parts kit and stock.  I decided going this way instead of buying a lower and complete upper kit.  Buying an upper only gives you a lot more option, or I feel it did.  I searched and searched and decided on the Spikes Tactical Lower parts kit just based on reviews and cost.  I again went to Joeboboutfitters and again wasn’t let down.  I received both parts amazingly 2 days later.  Installed the kit by watching a video on YouTube and the guide from here.  It went great.  Not 1 problem.  The one thing I did think was strange was that the kit was missing any instruction and parts list sheet. So my lower is complete.

I decided on JSE Surplus.  They had a lot of different uppers and posted on the main screen how many were in stock.  Very nice option when you don’t want to wait 3months for your upper.  I was looking for a $600 first build.  This will be my test AR for future builds.  Like the lower parts kit I felt spending a little extra money would go a long way.  I went with the JSE 16" M4 1x9 Nitride Sight Tower 2 Piece 4 Rail Handguards  JSE was superb.  On Monday morning I called to make sure the upper they said they had, they really had.  I got a hold of a real person after a few rings.  She was so polite; I asked her if she could verify that the upper I wanted was indeed there she went to the warehouse to make sure she put eyes on the upper.  It was so off the Net I went.  I ordered it about an hr later.  Now, they say on their web site there is a 3-5 day lead time and I expected about 15 day to my door.  Here's what happened.

Later that day I got an email stating that the item was processed for shipment.  I was like Wow.  The next day the item was shipped out.  Now I'm about 600 miles from them and figured it take a day or two based on what happened with Jobobs shipping.  No, This did not happen.  It was shipped by USPS and you can track your shipment online.  I saw it was shipped out on Monday and that’s the last I was informed of where it was till Friday morning.  Friday morning USPS updated it to being arrived in my city and later that afternoon it was delivered.  So not bad, but any waiting sucks.....lol

The upper was nicely packaged and was just as they described.  I couldn’t be more pleased with the AR.   Can’t wait till for Range Day. Which is coming soon?  Sorry for a lengthy post but I felt others will gain some good info in building there AR’s.
