I'm working on my second attempt at my first AR build (sold my first completed lower a couple of years back).  It's a fairly budget-minded build, and I'm looking for a specific barrel.  The requirements are as follows:

  • $200 or so

  • 16"

  • Mid-length

  • 1:7 twist rate (open to 1:8)

  • M4 feed ramps

  • Must allow me to fix bayonet (hence 16" mid-length)

  • No HBAR or bull barrel

I would like it to be hammer forged, but that's a feature I'm willing to give up for the right price.  Lastly, I would like it to accommodate a M203 grenade launcher.  I'm not able to equip one at this time, but I would like to have the option down the road.  Is an M4 profile required for the M203?  Do they even make mid-length M4-style barrels?

I will be purchasing the gas system with FSB (and bayonet lug) separately, so all I'm looking for here is the barrel.  Any suggestions?

Thanks.

That one looks like a distinct possibility.  Anyone have any insight on Palmetto State Armory's barrels?  I'm looking at this one:

16" 5.56 NATO, 1/7, Chrome-lined, Chrome Moly Vanadium, HPT/MP Mid-length Gas, A2-style profile Barrel

I bought the Kies  one for mine

Kies M4 profile barrels are drilled for a Midlength gas system.

These 16" barrels are "M4" profile and feature the grenade launcher cutout

223 Wylde marked 1/8" twist barrel can shoot 5.56 or 223

Nano Ceramic coating.

Does all you wanted not the 1:7 but I was searching this and other sites and

1:8 is better IMHO.

Got it at Joe Bobs

Less than 170 and mine shots really well at 25 yards with a red dot of 4 mils it was all ten in the ten ring with 5.56 PMC green tip 62gr Sitting.

Crap.  I just ordered this barrel and then realized it doesn't mention M4 feed ramps anywhere.  Anyone else have this barrel?  Does it really not have M4 feed ramps?

16" 5.56 NATO, 1/7, Chrome-lined, Chrome Moly Vanadium, HPT/MP Mid-length Gas, A2-style profile Barrel

EDIT:  It occurred to me to ask in the PSA forum.  The answer is, all their barrel extensions have M4 feed ramps.
