I am in the process of building my own AR, I've dicided to go with 6.8 SPC mid-length upper and I would like some input.  Will a standard spring and buffer work with this caliber or do I have to go with a heavier spring and buffer?

It depends on if you're going to use an A2 stock, or a collapsible stock. If you provide that information, it will allow folks to give you an answer.

My daughter built 2 M4's in 6.8 we use as deer rifles. Your concern is valid as they were both WAY over gassed. I debated H, H1, H2 or stronger buffer springs for a while before I found an adjustable gas tube by PRI on Midway. worked great just set and forget.

No, they are carbine length, just adding to the "gassiness" but i know PRI makes adjustable tubes in all 3 lengths.

Right now I have a colapsable six position stock kit that I got from PSA it came with a stock, buffer tube, spring and buffer there's no lettering on the buffer as far as H,H1,H2.

Typically the CAR(bine) or standard (carbine) buffer is not marked.
H is H1

H3 (not pictured) uses 3 tungsten slugs and weighs 5.4 oz.
