I am putting together my first 5.56/.223 AR and I have seen "LR-308" listed in some parts I want to order. I'm assuming this is just the metal used but I want to make sure it isn't designating 308 as the caliber. Thanks for the clarification in advance.

Can you provide links to what you are talking about??

There is such a thing as a LR-308 by DPMS.

What you are seeing could be showing that it was intended for the 308 rifles - or it just could be saying that it is usable on both the 5.56 and 308 rifles.....

Off the top of my head I don't have any links but I know I've seen that on a low profile gas block  that was a YHM I believe and a metal stock from A.C.E.. Now correct me if I'm wrong but neither product is caliber specific. I know DPMS makes a lr-308 AR which is why I wanted to ask the question. I assumed it was a type of metal but maybe they are just adding it in the title to try and get more "search hits" from people with the dpms rifle.

They will be AR 308 parts.

OK here is one. It says AR, LR-308.

That gas block is not 308 specific. It will fit any barrel that is 0.750" diameter. For both any caliber with that size barrel.

That is what I thought but I wanted to verify before I placed my order.  I see LR-308 listed on a lot of generic AR parts that shouldn't be caliber specific. Thanks for the quick responses.
