| I did a search for SBR steps and instructions and didn't find anything. I got a couple striped lowers and thinking about building one into a SBR. Can anyone steer me in the right direction to get this done? |
| Try Here. When I did my SBR I read through the thread and it helped a lot. |

Can anyone steer me in the right direction to get this done? SBRs are NFA items, regulated by the National Firearms Act. You must make an application to the BATFE and pay a $200 tax fee, then wait 6+ months for approval before constructing a rifle having a barrel length less than 16". Your BATFE form, requesting permission to manufacture a SBR must be approved by you local Chief Law Enforcement Officer (sheriff). Otherwise, you must create a legal entity such as a Trust or LLC to circumvent the CLEO signature requirement. Additionally, being the manufacturer of the SBR, you must engrave your lower receiver with identification information. The engraved letters must be at least 1/16" tall and 3/1000 inches deep. Building the SBR is a piece of cake. Complying with Federal regulations is the tough part. ask your questions here |
