I have decided to change the buttstock on my AR from an adjustable one to a fixed stock. Does anyone have any suggestions on stocks? Thanks.

A2 if long arms, A1 if not.

I really more mean what manufacturer. I have read several "reviews" and everyone has an opinion. I have heard the DPMS has problems and the AR-Stoner are good but noisy(?), so I don't know.

I've only used Bushmaster (maine) and Colt A2 Stocks, and an Old Colt A1 stock. No problems with any of those.

I have several Fulton Armory A2 stocks and no problems.

I originally built mine with an A2 stock. I am 6'1" with an armspan to match and I couldn't "tactically" manipulate my firearm (see: shoot from straight forward, feet squared-off, shoulder-width apart stance).

I changed over to the A1 stock and knocked several seconds off of my competition time in a few movement-heavy stages where I was bringing the rifle to my shoulder and down a lot.

It's worth the trouble to find an older Colt stock. Mine even has some little wear marks, which just makes it look like less of a safe queen.

I actually ended up getting one from a local gun store. It is a UTG. It seams solid and it was in stock. It is amazing how many AR items are out of stock.
