Just got my new spikes stripped upper (has FA and port cover). It has a film of crud that wont just wipe off. Whats the best way to clean it up before I mount my back-up sight and put everything together? It has a very sticky film on it! I dont want to scrub with anything, I have to have it pretty for pics before I trash it!

The film is a dry lubricant...it came on mine as well...leave it alone and just oil up the BCG and you will be fine.  It will eventually wear off on its own
