I think I may have accidentally installed the wrong detent for the bolt catch. Does this make a difference? I had some extra detents and springs handy so I just used one of those. I believe it either the detent for the safety mech, or for the rear takedown that I used for the bolt catch. Please help this dummy out, thanks

It's specific to the bolt catch.
Have a look :

It's a funky bullet shaped detent that rides on a spring.  The only one you might have used would be the safety selector detent.  If your safety is is installed, then you probably got it right.

Does it function?  With the hammer locked back you should be able to push the bottom of the bolt catch in and it will spring back into position.

I did end up putting the the wrong detent in the bolt catch. Now is that terrible or will it cause any problems?

Just pound it out and put the right one in.

Not my favorite roll pin to have to revisit.
I would have a Bolt Catch Pin Punch though.
And tape up.
