| Hello everyone, I have a 16" dpms oracle that is currently still bone bare stock. I want to free float but I have a question. I want to order the Yankee Hill Machine Free Float Handguards in the specter length which should cover the gas block. I'm told that the stock dpms railed gas block will not fit under this rail system. What gas block should I buy that will fit under the rail and also I've heard talk about adjustable gas blocks (Yes i'm still new to ar's) Are all gas blocks adjustable? How will I know I have it set correctly or are there just standard non adjustable gas blocks. Any help would be great. |

They (YHM) actually make 2 different ones that would work just fine and wont break the bank. One is a clamping style the other has screws that come up from the bottom. No need for an adjustable gas block. Most are NOT adjustable. As far as setting it correctly, you could get it dimpled at the bottom and the YHM gas block that screws from the bottom would have one of the screws fit right in the dimple. Its really not that hard. Just cut an end cap in half and use it to space the gas block from where it butts up against the barrel (the name of that part escapes me right now). That should give you the correct clearance. Before you do that, line up the holes and mark the barrel/gas block with chalk. Line it up from there. Pretty simple really. I probably made it sound harder than it is. |
