what would cause the trigger pin to come out of the lower during firing? This has happened on the last 2 lowers I have put together. Have I assembled something wrong, or do I have out of spec parts? Thanks in advance for the replies.

The Hammer Spring Legs sould rest on the trigger pin in the notches.  I'd bet you have the legs on the bottom of the inside of the lower instead of in the notches on the pin.

Once the legs are on the pin, they capture the pin and prevent side to side movement.

There's a detailed thread about it somewhere around here.

Here is a good photo for an example of how the spring legs fit ontop of the pins:

years ago, i was haviing the same problem with my duty rifle (my build).  there is a chance it was due to a mistake that i had made, but i just got what i call the "Dog Bones" (the anti rotate pins that are connected to eachother on the outside of the receiver) and everything has been great every since

I had the same problem with my first build,  turned out I put the hammer spring on backwards.  It will look right, but the spring legs will rest on the trigger assembly instead of the pin due to the different angle.

This.
The spring legs must nest into those grooves on the pin as shown above.
