Brownells order guide
This is a pdf file. Brownells does a great job at listing what parts you will need with this order guide. As you can either buy parts complete, or put them together yourself, they list in nicely so you can understand what you'll need. |

I do not like this hand guard any suggestions on what to swap it out with?

| All depends on what you want and how much work you want to do. The easiest is going to be go with the Magpul MOE handguard and you can still add rails and such, otherwise I would go with a free float rail and all depends on if you want a quad rail or round handguard. Just search around and find what you want. Good go to handguards include Troy, Daniel Defense, Samson, LaRue etc. |

Definately need to know your intended uses and likes in regards to your rifle. |

You aren't going to want to mount an optic on any rail that isn't free-floated. |

Most agree that it is a general rule that optics shouldn't be mounted on the hand guard unless you have a monolithic upper receiver.
Check out www.yankeehillmachine.com. If you scan around this forum you'll find plenty of examples for hand guards. Many use quad rail hand guards which free float the barrel. Some use free float tubes. There are many different brands to choose from. |

I do see a lot of them I just am not thrilled with the look. The one pictured is just a standard A2 handguard. You have pretty much endless options of handguards...everything from two piece drop-ins that are basically improved versions of what you have, to free floating rail systems that are installed with little to no gunsmithing....and then some that require more work including removal and replacement of you barrel nut. Might try doing a Google image search on AR-15 handguards and look till you see something you like. The most important thing is to decide what you are wanting to mount on your rifle (if anything) and then work from there to find the hand guard that suites your needs. You might try looking here Dissipator Picture Thread for inspiration also. <Edit> Also...on the Magpul MOE hand-guards, I see you have a triangular hand-guard cap. I've never used the MOE hand-guards so I don't know this for sure, but before you buy a set if you like them, make sure your hand-guard cap will work with them...you may need a round one, which would require removing the front sight base (not a real big deal) to swap it out. |

Actually the Carbine Version of the Moe use the Round handguard cap. While the Rifle version can use either Round or Triangle hand guard cap. Love the Moe handguards they are on 2 of the three ARs I have and will be on number 4 Good to know, I knew someone would clear that up...thanks |
