I'm trying to build my first upper and when i started to install my gas block it was very tight, enough so that i pulled it back off to make sure everything looked ok.
After getting it back off i noticed the gas hole it directly under where you would pin the gas tube. i think it was drilled on the wrong side ....

Slide the gas tube in and line up the roll pin you could even start the roll pin now blow thru it. If its not aligned you will not be able to blow thru then give the manufacture a call.  stop back by and let us know how it goes

This is a very common issue.  Something is out of Spec.

You should find someone on your HTF, they might be able to help.

Or a gunsmith......

Does that gas block have the gas tube hole that goes all the way through, if it does then you had it on back assword
or maybe we need a couple more pictures at other angles.
In the picture it looks like the port hole is more in the middle of the block than the roll pin hole,
send it back as it hurts my eyes just to look at it

It’s a YHM from Joebobs. Its drilled wrong I didn’t install it wrong. The gas hole is directly under the roll pin hole. I sent them an email and left a voice mail so i guess we will see how their customer service is on Monday....

Congrats on being the lucky one to receive an anodized paperweight. Nothing like a bad or missing part to screw up a build plan. Naturally it's always a bit which can't be easily sourced locally.

Don't Mind if I hijack this thread. I have a Black Rain Ordnance 16" stainless barrel and I purchased a .75 low pro gas block (not sure on the make but I can find out if ya'll need to know) and the block is super tight. It will not slide on to where it needs to be. I may and up lubing it up and trying to fore it. I'm fairly certain that the barrel takes a .75 gas block, but I know it should not be this difficult to install. Any suggestions?

Use a rubber mallet and tap it. Dont bang it though. If tapping it with a rubber mallet doest do it- remove and send it back. A little CLP is fine when installing a gas block.

some gas blocks can be a little tight which is good in my opinion. Especially ones you dont plan to dimple

Measure the OD of the barrels gas block journal and the ID of the gas block so you can make an educated decision on what to do. May need to hone the block, may just need to apply some heat. It depends on the measurements.
