| i bought a complete upper from Brownells that is a DPMS. the rifle fires, extracts the spent round and the bolt returns to the chamber almost everytime without catching the next round. i have tried 3 differnet magazines and still had the problem. but when i install a bolt assembly from an M&P 15 into the upper it will work correctly everytime. i have only put about 50 rounds through the DPMS upper so could it be that it just needs to be broken in? whats your thoughts??? |

Put the DPMS bolt and cam pin in the M&P bolt carrier and install that assembly in the DPMS upper. Test fire.
If the problem goes away then most likely there is something wrong with the gas key or its installation on the DPMS bolt carrier. If you are sure you got the new gas block aligned right then look for signs of leaking. |

Punkboston, Our chrome carriers do require some break-in to loosen up as they are very tight out of the box. We recommend heavy lubrication during break-in (100+/- rounds) is typical. I just sold a Colt carrier that had the original hard chrome finish. After THOUSANDS of rounds, no wear! |
