ETA: gun completed 12/30/11

on December 1st, after much deliberation and research, i decided to order my Spike's tactical stripped lower "Punisher" receiver (to match my "Punisher" Kimber Custom TLE II)

this is my second AR, but the last one was bought in one piece and besides adding an optic, was never modified, and i was totally ignorant about these black rifles. i sold/traded it away for my "Punisher" Kimber Custom TLE II, coincidentally. this time i'm gonna build my rifle!

I knew that people were waiting for as long as 8-12 weeks for their orders to be filled from Spike's. I figured, "hey, I don't have the money to buy everything just yet anyway. i'll just order it, and by the time it gets here, i'll have all the parts necessary to make it shoot"

oops! not even two weeks later, i get a shipping notification from Spike's warning me that my receiver will arrive on Monday the 19th.

LOL what am I gonna do with only part of an AR-15?!

here's the list of what's going on the gun so far:

Spikes Tactical stripped Punisher lower
White Oak Arms lower parts kit sans fire control group from Adco
Geiselle SSF fire control group
Bravo Company 16" mid-length upper group, gov't profile with cold hammer forged barrel
Daniel Defense M4 12.0 FSPM hand guards
SEI Vortex Flash Eliminator

i still need to order a stock (Magpul CTR), grip (Magpul MOE), bolt carrier group (i'm thinkin bravo company auto BCG with gunfighter charging handle)

i have no idea what BUIS i'll throw on there. for optic, i'm thinking Aimpoint PRO because I can get a good price on it with my popo discount on RainierArms

any comments, suggestions? let me know! i've been hassling PistolPete almost every day lol. time to pass the burden onto someone else (thanks buddy!)

I like it.  I have a punisher lower with a DD upper and the 12" Omega X rail.  Also have the CTR stock and MOE grip.  So yeah, sounds good to me.

I would wait for the CTR and get the STR when it comes out.

When is it coming out? I could have this gun operational by the end of January. Don't wanna have to wait too much longer for a stock that's unavailable. Black rifle disease!!

just wanted to compliment Rainier Arms for a sec...

first of all, Rainier offers a LE/MIL discount, which is great, because they know how broke/cheap we are lol

secondly... the other day I placed an order for a bunch of parts right before I had to run off to work, and in my haste left out one small part. I didn't realize this until this morning when I got a confirmation email that my parts were being pulled from inventory and i'd get an email notifying me that everything has shipped. I went through the list and was like "oh no where's the flash hider!?"

I called Rainier and Paul picked up on the first ring. I explained my situation and that I thought it'd be silly to pay the $8 any item / any size / flat shipping rate for one more piece and receive it another day or two after the big order, and he explained that it was no big deal and they were still putting my order together. He set me right up and squared away my order. I'm extremely satisfied with their customer support! If you're putting together an AR, and were having trouble deciding which retailer to buy your parts from, look no further than Rainier Arms!

can't wait to start building this beast

If you can't wait I'll send you one of my CTR's and when the STR's come out you can buy one and send it to me.  It is new and unused.

that's really kind of you to offer. unfortunately i didnt read this in time and included the CTR in my large order from Rainier lol. i'm done ordering parts for now. all i need is an optic down the road. i decided on a Troy flip rear BUIS. can't wait to post pics of my first build.

So, the gun shoots amazing. No failures (fired 150 rounds federal xm193). Sights were already zeroed for 50/200yds. Didn't have to mess with them at all! I am so happy with this build and can't wait to put an optic on there and try a run and gun event
