I am building an upper right now and am curious to see if anyone has experience with an idea I have. The barrel I have is 14.5". I am wondering what a KX3 would look like sitting under a MI T-15 rail. I would assume about 2"of the flaming pig would be sticking out of the rail, but I just don't know. Any of you have anything similar? Am I right in assuming that pinning a KX3 would be the same as pinning any other muzzle device? Pics would be greatly appreciated!

You have to check the inner diameter of the MI rail.  Yes pinnig it would work.  It is heavy compared to anything else.

For a 14.5 I would just get a comp or flash hider to make it 16.1 inches and be done with it.

It's not as noticeable on the longer barrels, but on the very short barrels (7.5-10") it works wonders at taming the blast to the shooter.
My 7.5" with KX3 is less tooth-chattering than my 16" with Vortex.

I'm with RD the KX3 works wonders projecting the majority of the concussive force forward away for from the shooter for a much more pleasurable experience. I have a KX3 pinned to a 13.7" WOA barrel to make 16" and the thing is a dream to shoot. A week ago at the range there was another AR with a standard FS was shooting alongside me and I could feel the pressure from every round he let off. I feel no pressure wave when shooting or when my girl is shooting and I'm standing alongside. Soon I will be placing another KX3 on a 7.5" pistol build/soon to be SBR. Here is a couple pictures of the pinning...
