A few days ago, I posted pics of my very first biuld...very first AR for that matter, here:
First Build..Success I let the rifle sit around the shop long enough until I cratered and decided to keep it. So, I fire lapped the barrel then went through a break-in procdure. I tried a few handloads and they shot OK, but I fired a couple of groups with some $5.99 Prvi Partisan, made in Serbia, 55 gr. stuff. One of the groups is on the left target below. The lower/upper fit was just a teeny bit loose...almost un-noticeable. But I degreased the top of the upper and applied one layer of 3M Super 88 electrical tape to each side. Trimmed it up neatly so you can't see it at all with the rifle assembled. The upper would just close with a little force. Fired another group pictured below on the right. The first three shots are the ones just above the bull that form a triangle. It was a little late and I couldn't see the holes in the target so I walked down, came back and fired three more which is the three right-most holes.I think it'd have done better in better light. Incidently, these groups were fired at 100 yds. with open sights. I ordered an A2 stock and intend to work on the trigger as it's a bit creepy and heavy. http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h6/308Scout/Auctions/P1010002.jpg Leaving for an elk hunt Wednesday, but when I get back, I'm going to work on the trigger and try some handloads.
