So far this is my first build and I am already pretty excited about it.  I chose to build one mostly so I could spread the cost out and keep the spending of the wife's radar.  Not the cheapest way to get it done, but none of my hobbies tend to be cheap.
I have started with:
RRA Stripped Lower Receiver
RRA LPK w/ Houge grip
MOE Stock Kit from PSA
Magpul Magazine

Just having fun getting to build my own and learning about the rifle.

Just finished my lower, got a few parts for the upper. Whats your plans for the upper?
I'm building one in stages also as funds allow, But not under the wifes radar but  because of the wife. She felt that my AR would best be served as HER ar.
Offered to build her one but she said she wanted "that one"

Yeah, the wife knows I am building it but not sure on the cost.  If I spread it out she is less likely to have any issues.  Once I get it together and she can shoot it my second one will be a little easier.

So far I am planning a 16" Mid-length on a RRA upper.  I am still in the research and planning stage.  I may go with the MOE handguard or the RRA half quad.

How do you like that Houge grip? I started out with one about 8 or 9 years ago but switched to an Ergo pretty quick because the finger grooves were so far apart. But I've got delicate little girly man hands.

So far I like the way it feels, but I haven't shot it yet so we shall see.  This being my first AR, I am sure there are things that I will change with this one or the next.

Thanks.   I ordered my RRA upper last night, along with some more tools.  Now I am on to researching barrels.  I am looking for a 16" Mid-Length with the FSB on it already.  This is just going to be plinker/SHTF type gun.  Any recommendations on what/where to purchase?  Anything I should know about buying a stripped barrel?

Well it is finished except for the Aimpoint that should be here this Friday.

RRA Lower
RRA Parts kit
RRA Upper
RRA Chrome BCG
BCM Charging Handle
Del-Ton 16" Mid-length
Magpul Stock, Handguard and Rear Sight

I have ran 90 rounds through it and so far I love it.  Just wish I had more time to shoot it

Thanks for the heads up.  I was thinking that it was. I wanted to mount the Aimpoint and adjust from there.

The farther back you put that rear sight, the better. You'll have a better right radius, plus that little tiny aperture will be closer to your eye.

Excellent first post! will this be your first ar15? If so, kudos on the choice to build! You will learn a lot by building your own - as you most undoubtedly have found out so far Nice choice on parts, I like the moe stock (on my 16" midlength) and have a hogue grip on all my AR 15's

Nice lookin rifle with quality parts. I had mine for awhile before getting to the build it yourself phase. Wish I would have built one from scratch to begin with. Great Job!

Thanks everyone for the compliments and information.  This is my first AR and I am glad I built it rather than buying a complete one.  It has helped me understand how it works and the parts involved with the rifle.  My next one I will buy a complete upper but I did enjoy building this one.  Originally I planed for the first build to be a cheap one, but that went out the window pretty quick.  I will get some pics up when the drop off the ML3 Aimpoint tomorrow.

Looks great.  Shoot the crap out of it, so you know what to build on your next one.

Looks good, Jimmy...but IMHO, needs more FDE.

Enjoy amigo, because I'm pretty sure you're hooked now.

Yeah, I am hooked now.  I am already planning my next build in my head.  I think that I may go with another color for the next one.
