Hello all, new guy here.

What started as my bro and I each picking up a PSA lower when they were on sale because it was a good idea, has snowballed into "Lets build our first AR's!" I'm sure a lot of you know what I'm talking about.

Anyway, we each bought one of the new PSA 16" mid-lengths uppers and each one has a different "issue".

The first upper seems to have the feed-ramps just a little bit off.

I don't personality see how this could affect anything because to me it looks like the rounds never even touch the upper receiver but I wanted to ask the experts just be sure.

The second upper looks like no one applied any grease to the barrel nut when it was installed.

This one actuality worry's me more then the feed-ramps since it is a aluminum receiver and a steel nut. It is doubtful that I'll ever take the barrel off but you never know, plus I am a little worried about any damage that might have been done by torquing the nut without any lube.

Do y'all think there is anything wrong with either of these uppers? We would be shooting them by now but UPS fumbled our MOE LPK's
I'm sure the folks at PSA will make it right if anything is wrong but I don't want to bug them unless I know something is wrong.

The cool thing about this is once we get them together my bro and I will have matching AR's with consecutive serials.

Thanks for any input,
Mike.

Ramps look fine to me.  As for the grease, they may have only used a small amount on the tread.

Get to the range and give a range report.

Yep, more important things to worry about.

I can't tell from the feed ramp pic, but as long as there isn't a pronounced lip for the bullet to possible catch on, you're G2G.

There is nothing wrong with those feed ramps and you rarely are able to see the grease that's applied to the barrel nut-especially if they cleaned up that area after installation.

Thanks for the info guys.

I didn't think there was a problem but being new to the AR world I wanted to make sure.
Once we get the LPK's we'll see how they run.

And yes, I'll post pics

Well I got mine assembled a few days ago and the whole 10 rounds I fired through it worked fine. I will say that the sound of the buffer spring will take some getting use to.

I am waiting for my Troy fixed sight to come in before I shoot it for reliability. Don't want to waste ammo just spraying in that general direction.

Anyway, enough chit-chat. Here are some pics.

Apologies for the cramp in your neck. Photobucket will not let me rotate the pics for some reason.

Now I just gotta get more money for a light, sling and more mags and I should be good to go.

Good job, it looks good. Now the fun starts, trying to figure out what to put on it.

you'll get used to the buffer sound.  after a while you'll be able to tell when your mag runs empty because it sounds different when the mag locks back the bolt.

I use Anti-Seize on the threads and some like to use grease but when it gets hot the grease runs off...I personally like to get a regular receiver with out the M-4 Cuts or get the barrel and receiver matched a little better.. I don't think you'll have an issue On one I built I had an issue with lead bullets but I don't think you can really buy lead tipped bullets anymore so its not a issue...
