I'm itching to start my first build and after a few months of research I believe I have a decent parts list compiled but my mind is not 100% committed on a few things. Any constructive feedback or criticisms as well as "partcompliance" is welcome. I would like to have it built and ready by the 2nd week of Oct as I have some range time scheduled — parts that are out of stock are not likely to make it into this build. Cheap and light would be ideal without compromising quality. (I know the first thing to cut would be the Geissele.)
I have a few PSA lowers in-hand.

Upper:

BCM Standard 16" Carbine (light weight) Barrel 1:7 twist OR a BCM BFH 16" Mid Length (light weight) Barrel 1:7 twist
BCM Bolt Carrier Group (MPI) - Auto
BCMGUNFIGHTER Charging Handle
YHM Lightweight quad rail free float
Vltor Compensator/Flash Hider
Vltor Carbine EMOD stock (or iMOD)
Spike's Carbine Buffer Assembly Kit
Tango Down quick detach vertical foregrip

Lower:
PSA stripped lower
Spike's LPK
Magpul MIAD grip
Geissele SSA Trigger Assembly
BAD-ASS (ambi-safety)

Optic:
Troy Industries rear BattleSight (Diamondhead "SL" Series Flip-Up DIAMOND Rear Combat Sight on next build)
Aimpoint C3 red dot

Is anything too lavish? I'm trying to go for a lighter build but still have some some of the features I want. Should I just scrap the entire thing and just go PSA all the way? Some of PSA's uppers are now OOS and AIM has not has Spike's uppers in forever. To trim costs I could just use BUIS for now (like the Magpul Gen. 2) and add the red dot later.

YHM Lightweight quad rail free float - go with a TRX extreme or alpha or vtac extreme or another modular rail.. look at the weight differences... and consider the very REAL quality differences.
Vltor Compensator/Flash Hider - get a standard A2 or a medieval or a rainier XTC
Vltor Carbine EMOD stock (or iMOD) Imod.
Spike's Carbine Buffer Assembly Kit
Tango Down quick detach vertical foregrip scrap the vertical grip imo

Thanks durabo. I'll reprice out some of those suggestions tonight and see where I end up.

Heya fellow KS'er.

Consider SBR'ing it as well, chopping off a few inches of barrel steel can really make a weight and balance difference.

Also look at a magpul moe carbine stock, they are very light while still being adjustable.

Durabo's suggestions will save both weight and $.  If you get a VFG, the Magpul RVG works well and cost a lot less.  I'd skip the Giesselle for a first build and keep the RDS.

I would like to shrink down to at least a 14.5 barrel but for a first build I wanted the option to change out the flash hider if I wanted without having to re-pin (if that is even possible without damaging the threads). If I start work on a stamp it would most likely be for a suppressor first.
