Just completed my "semi" build. I built the lower from Stag Arms with Stag Arms kit and a complete Stag Arms upper. Lower went together easily and quickly. But it seems that the upper and lower do not marry together very well. The take down pin is very difficult to push in and nearly impossible to push out with a punch and hammer. I find this odd being that both come from Stag. Any ideas on this.

(this is not a FAIL.. see if you can drive it out using a round or brass casing) if you cannot drive it out using bunch and hammer.. it's too tight.. something is not right. |
| It doesn't necessarily always matter that the receivers are from the same manufacturer with regard to fit. Sometimes they will be loose & sometimes they will fit tightly regardless of brand. Something might also be out of spec depending on how difficult it is to fit the two receivers together. |

The upper is forged and milled separately from the lower, and when you look at the prints, you'll see dimensional variation allowed up to .030" in some specs. Since the vertical and horizontal locations can vary slightly on both pieces, sometimes the holes and pins are really tight. Mine was.
Alternate installing one pin or the other first, and find which is the looser fit. At that point, work with it. Mine needed some initial persuasion with a small dead blow hammer. The disgusting part is that in five years we might be wishing it was that way again. |
