Cut down my FSB and have a couple of very small nicks in the barrel. I want to cover them and all the exposed grinded ares on what's left of the FSB.

Thanks.

Birchwood Casey makes Aluminum Black. That should work pretty well.

I have some Birchwood Casey Perma Blue, but have never used it. Will that work?
The areas will not be visible. They are at the gas hole of a carbine gas system and I am using a 12" handguard.

If not visible, for the barrel, that shoud be fine. I don't think it works as well on aluminum, but what are you gonna hurt trying? Nohing.

So:

The barrel is steel and Perma Blue should be fine as long as it's not visible, but the Aluminum Black appears to be made for aluminum. How will the Aluminum Black work on the barrel?

From your post, it appears the FSB is aluminum. I didn't realize that.

Out of sight. I would paint it.
Blue needs more maintenance than the original Parkerizing.
A GI FSB is not aluminum.

Heat and solvent resistant for firearms. That particular area gets hot.
Brownell’s and Midway both carry a variety.
