So I just received a new Predator this week and my issued M16 shoots a better grouping. I shot 55gr. ball, 62gr. M855, and 75gr TAP. All I can say is I was expecting something a little better then 1" to 1 1/2" groups. If anybody can give me some advice on the best type of ammo. Also has anyone else had issues with FTE with this rifle???

you're pretty close to what the barrel is capable of with commercial ammo.  i wouldn't expect 1/2" groups with commercial loads, regardless of who is making them.  you're going to have to work up a handload that suits the barrel and bullet weight to get the kind of accuracy you're looking for.

The 1" to 1 1/2" groups were the best out of the 5 shot groups fried. some of them were in the range of 4" to 5" groups. I can't believe a barrel design for long range shooting would be this bad!!!

Practice more? But seriously, look into making your own reloads if you can. You will get better groups for sure.

Also look at the other parts of your rifle. Are you using a free float handguard? How is your trigger? (as GI triggers suck mostly) are your sights on tight? How far are you shooting from? 1"-1.5" in groups are amazing at 1000 yards with a .223. Are you benching the gun to get these groups? Lots of variables to look at. I wouldn't go blaming the upper right away.

I'm using a Bi-pod with a Mono-pod as a base. Right now it has the Bushmaster free float tube (which I will be changing out with another free float handguard. My trigger is a single stage trigger not a 2-stage so I know that would help (but not that much). These shot groups were taken at 50 yards, 5 shots, with about 5min cool downs between groups. I have been shooting the M16 and MK18 for the past 7 years, so I'm no a stranger with what the AR platform is capable of.
