Just did a budget build for my son. I used the 99 dollar barrel from Sportsmans Guide and frankly it works great. The gun shoots extremely well. Supposedly they are made by Mossberg, I don't think you can beat it for the price. On my personal higher dollar gun I used a DD.

Prices are much more reasonable than they have been in years past which again boils down to having free income to spend, but you can get some pretty good things now for less than you could (and probably will after the economy finally recovers).

But don't accept anything less than what your toys are worth (especially guns). Firearms are better at holding their value than most other items.
