Yes, yes I know the pressure on the roll pin....  This could also be addressed in a DIY/Homemade Tactical latch by putting a tiny steel rod inside the roll pin (increasing shear strength), and modding the latch so that the latch will put pressure on the charging handle more than it puts pressure on the rollpin.

Well I was bored have a dremel, jb weld, and a normal latch....

I haven't put a steel rod inside the rollpin yet, or messed with a "stop"(something to transfer force into the handle as opposed to the latch)... next time I'm bored I'll do that.

I may make it longer or build up the shape more then grind it down to the exact shape I want... I have to run it to see how it feels.

If Gunfighter charging handles were $100+, I might understand why someone would be cheap and put together something ghetto like that.  But, they aren't.. So I don't really understand.
Gunfighters are like $40, a one-time buy and arguably one of the few "must-haves" on the AR15.

$0 and less than 10 minutes < $40

I'd prefer the term customized as opposed to ghetto.

I will agree about the "arguably" part, I have several AR's and don't have a single extended charging handle on any of the ones I actually run for work, or regular shooting matches.  I think I do have 2 or 3, but they are currently only on "fun" guns, not ones I use regularly.

Not to stir the pot too much, but JB weld and an extended latch both cost money, more than $0 specifically.

Anyways, any excuse to make something and use some tools is

Meh with badger tac latches going for around $20 shipped from Brownells I don't see the point in running something that is not as stable.  I have busted JB weld before so I don't trust it to hold up as well as buying a solid latch.

I wanted a gunfighter, but I opted for the Badger tactical latch.  I am glad I didn't go gunfighter for how I use my weapons.  The tactical sticks out so far that I have to be careful how I sling this thing to my back...Latch out or OUCH!  The BCG GF would probably land me in the ER.

ETA:  I only use the stock items for my other 3 builds.  They are much easier to use for me.

It isn't the roll pin that is weak, it is the proximity of the hole to the edge that is the problem.  Not enough aluminum around the pin, and it can tear out.  Not likely, but it can happen.

Anyway, now you need to checker the blob!

I had a Badger tactical latch, and it stuck me in the chest when slung I got the Bravo company gunfighter charging handle, and it's much better! I got the mod 4
