The buffer tube I just got won't thread into the receiver. After a close inspection I see a high spot on the threaded end of the tube that is the same width as the six position section. Is this normal or is this a lack of machining? The receiver nut screws right on the tube freely so I'm confused on this.

Did you also verify that the receiver threads are free from obstructions/burrs/defects?

The receiver looks good and clean (it's brand new).

Guess it's tim to complain to the guy I bought the buffer assm from.

btw: if you look just above the red line you can see where it looks like the machining is off. If I'm wrong, please tell me.

Toss it on a lathe and turn down the high spot?
