Looks like the rear of your bolt carrier is not finished very well and the anodizing on your buffer might be a bit thin.  Did you look at your bolt carrier?

A buddy of mine had some intermittent problems with Fail to Feeds.  It turned out the roll pin that hold the weights in the buffer was loose and was catching on the buffer spring.

The rear face of your bolt carrier has sharp edges that are causing this cosmetic wear.
You can lightly break the edges by polishing to reduce it. Worth a try.

It's not uncommon for buffer faces to look like this. It's getting beat by the rear of your carrier so some wear is expected.

thanks, its definetly sharp edges. i can see where it was scraping the face of the buffer when it closes. and when i close it , it clearly pushes the buffer away form the detent.

looks like i need to clean up the carrier.

is this why genuine colt carriers cost more? is there more labor put into them before they ship? not implying the m&a one is junk. it shoots great and was very cheap and quick, im very happy with them. just wondering basically, if i buy a less expesive carrier is this always pretty come to have to do or should i do all my carriers regardless of brand?

That can & does happen with any brand of carrier & buffer. There's no rhyme or reason to it. Continue to shoot if it doesn't affect function.
