Waiting on the stamp to come back on my lower so I can put a 14.5 and and 11.5 inch upper on it.

In the mean time I am building the lower.

I am going to put a carbine stock on it.  Do I need a heavy buffer and regular carbine spring to make this work or just a regular carbine buffer and spring?

Figured I would ask before buying.

People will probably tell you to put a huge H15 buffer that weighs 20lbs in your gun, but think about it for a minute: if the gun doesn't cycle violently with a light buffer, why would you want to add more reciprocal mass (more recoil/muzzle rise)?

You should be fine with a standard or H buffer.

H2 or H3. Depends on barrel and ammunition.

You will find out which buffer your particular set up prefers after you shoot the gun. Not before.

I run an H - two SBRs - both fine.  Nothing special needed.

While the H2 buffer is good, it's also $45. I personally just run cheaper $25 9mm buffers. I also have 9mm uppers so no need to worry about swapping out buffers

I've been using a Spike's ST-T2 in my 11.5". My primary ammo is M193 or M855. No issues. I do carry an H in my range bag in case I end up shooting lighter stuff like AE .223 and experience cycling issues.

My 11.5" runs fine with an H buffer.  I shoot mostly Federal XM193.

Vltor A5 system in my 12.5. Runs great, got it for anticipation of my AAC SPR/M4 can clearing soon to balance out the added backpressure.
