I read that the torque spec for the A2 extension is 35-39 ft-lb.

I tried to approach this torque with my 18" wrench and was afraid something was going to break so I stopped short by an unknown amount.
When I tried to tighten with the standard wrench by hand, it would not budge any further.

Will this do or do I need to torque it fully?  I did not use any Loktite.

Thread in until it catches the buffer retainer... No torque necessary.

Thanks, but this is the A2 buffer extension so it has a flange that seats firmly against the lower.

You are correct. Sorry for the misread.

ETA: If you can not remove it by hand you should be fine. I just tried to remove my factory colt by hand (I have a manly grip) and it would not budge.

????

So what do you think will hold the extension tube on the receiver??    Carbines use a torqued castle nut and rifles have the entire tube torqued against the lower receiver.
