I picked a couple of S&W lowers last year. They have sat in my shop for a good while with me trying to decide what to do with them. Well I decided to build them into a couple of simple carbines. I have picked parts for them as I have found them and if DD would hurry up with some barrels I could finish them. In wanting to do something different(plus Im not a fan of the grey M&P that was on the lowers) I decided to give Cerakote a try with help from one of my friends.

The specs on the rifles are as follows-

S&W lowers
Palmetto uppers
DD LPK
DD BCG
RRA NM triggers
YHM rails
Magpul Moe stocks
DD 1/7 16" barrels(when they show up)
FSB's- customized by me

I Cerakoted them in Sniper Grey- this is my 1st two-tone AR, I like the look.

Heres a few pictures of them-

I removed the bayonet lugs and sling attachments on the FSB's. I then used a oscillating belt sander to remove the ridges from them and lastly drilled/tapped them for allen screws.

I spent the afternoon finishing up both the carbines.

Heres a few pictures I took while finishing it up-

Installing the gas pin/tube in FSB

Installing the barrel in the upper receiver

Installing the barrel nut

Torqued to specs

Making sure the quadrail and upper receiver are straight

Gas tube/FSB going on

Flash hider installed

All finished

The reason I have built 2 identical rifles is everytime my wife and I go shoot she claims my rifle is better than hers. So I built these two so she and I can finally end the debate.

Nice choice of color!  I have some sniper grey also and have done a slide in that color.  I have one upper that's cerakoted and it's the smoothest running of all the uppers.  You can really tell the self-lubricating properties of cerakote.  It starts to run smoother with each cycle.  Good looking builds you have there.

Nice builds. Good way to make rails line up perfect. My next purchase will be a rail alien tool for my vise. I dont trust by eye either.

Very sexy!

Now you need to convince her yours needs a SBR setup and a can to even the field a bit more.

I have a few SBR's that we shoot on a regular basis.

10.5

And a 7.5

The purpose of these is going to be getting more efficent with iron sights.
