So I got the FH screwed on and cranked down so that it was properly timed. The problem is, I can still torque it around about another half turn. The question is, should I leave it in the original timed position, keep trying to crank on it (which is making me ding up my barrelv), or buy a new crush washer and start over? FWIW, the FH will be pinned and welded soon. Thanks

So when it was timed correctly did the crush washer crush?  If so that's the point so you can get it to time correctly.

If your reusing a previously installed washer then that's your problem ...  they really shouldn't be reused but if your pinning and welding it I personally wouldn't worry about it.

The washer was crushed when it was timed correctly. My issue was that it would still go another half turn before bottoming out. I was wondering if it was ok to leave it in the original position even though it was still able to crush a little further.

The washer was new. It is now flat. I just went ahead and ordered a couple more, and i'll do it again

you don't have to bottom out the washer, hand tighten the FH against the crush washer, tighten until indexed properly.
