what are the differences between mil and commercial spec?

i'm looking at the magpul ubr or the ctr stocks. any opinions on either?

The UBR is rock solid, but heavy. It uses its own extension so the mil/commercial dimension is a non issue.

since commercial has more positions does that mean its supposed to be better?

It has been said that mil.spec. is stronger due to the way they are made. I see no reason to think one is stronger or better than the other except Commercial is larger so it would seem stronger for that reason?
Colt and other high end companies use mil.spec.

Commercials don't inherently have more positions. There are plenty of mil-specs out there with six positions.
