So the "Public" search doesn't work to great, so I am gonna ask..
I have a bunch of real prints for the AR, but where can one find more? The re-drawn prints are ok, but being that it's obvious who ever did them is not an actual draftsman, I kinda don't feel comfortable machining something to someone else's interpretation copy. I have also noticed that a couple dimensions are changed with tolerancing which raises some questions. So does anyone no where to get "Real" prints for the AR? You would think because this gun as been around for ever that they would be more readily available. Mike in MN |

pdfs are easy to find, but you want prints instead? http://www.quarterbore.com/ Quarterbore is a mod here. might be of some help. |

A pdf of the print is just fine.
In machining now a days, we rarely work with actual paper copies any more. Well we actually rarely work with prints anymore other than referencing tolerancing on the print. But unless the Government or Colt is gonna supply a 3d solid model, a print is the next best thing. I will check our quarterbore. Thanks, Mike in MN |

OverScoped, Yeah, got those, but there is no source data there. Everything I find are generic models/prints that someone drew up. I could bring in all the components I have to work, put them on a CMM and reverse engineer these parts, but that doesn't mean the parts I have, nor the parts that were used to draw up all the stuff floating around the internet didn't have tolerance build up on them. Thus why I am looking for real prints. Something that outlines the nominal dimensional designs. I am assuming that it probably won't happen, but figured I would ask if anyone had something. Thanks Mike in MN |

Every actual print I have ever encountered had a "PROPERTY OF" stamp on it. Yeah I see that too, but I figured being that it's the government and it's some 50 year old design by now, that along the way this maybe a public information. I have come to the conclusion after not finding any readily available, that this probably isn't the case(public information that is). Mike in MN |

Yes, exactly like this but of the whole rifle. Mike in MN |
| I've seen scatterings of prints of the barrel, hammer, barrel nut and a few other minor items, but never a complete collection of all parts. All of the prints, other than the lower, are marked "Restricted as to Use and Disclosure" and are noted as still being the property of Colt, who grants the Gov't license rights to use, modify, etc., but strictly prohibits release or reproduction. It is going to take considerably more time for all these prints to be 'leaked'. |

Yeah, it's amazing that this design is so old, controlled mostly by the government and haven't been made public or better aren't in the public. There have been probably thousands of people making these things, not too mention 1000 of government employees looking over it. Kinda shocked that it's not more readily available. Mike in MN |
