what should the od of an upper lapping tool be?  id like to make one for myself and im not sure if i need to just measure the upper i have, or measure the bcg, or if there is a standard i need to follow?  can someone post up a nice precise measurement of their upper lapping tool?

i am a machinist so i can handle making this very simple to make tool.

I made one last year on a lathe. Didn't take long at all,

It worked perfect on all the receivers I lapped, fit was perfect, bought lapping compound from autozone.

Mine cost me what ever I value my time. But since I did it during work I got paid to make it....

I'm sure the same goes for OP.

I figured it be cheaper than buying the materials.  Sometimes time is more expensive than buying the part out right.

The scrap pile at work has taken a hit since I started working there a couple years ago...

You wouldn't believe the stuff that's in there!
