I am trying to change out my standard fixed front sight but I can't seem to get the gas tube out from the standard fixed front sight. It is stuck to the the standard sight. It is a Daniel Defense standard sight and Daniel Defense gas tube. Does anyone know why? or what I can do? Thank you

Did you remove the roll pin?
Use a set of leather wrapped pliers and twist and pull.
or place gas tube in a vice and tap barrel off, hold gas tube vertical with barrel muzzel pointing down.

Sometimes you just got to destroy the gas tube to get them out. Use solvent and a pair of vise grips.
The tube is a $15 item and fighting it for an hour or 2 isnt worth it to me. Also like one of the other posters stated , "is the roll pin out that holds it in"?
Its located in the front site base.

oh its not stuck to barrel end of it, its stuck to the front sight end. but I will try those methods. If it doesn't work i'll just get a new one. Thank you.

I know. I was thinking you had the FSB still attached to the barrel.

If you have a pair of cheap Chinese locking pliers (visegrips) you can fashion a tool. Close the jaws and drill a hole just smaller than the gas tube diameter across both jaw faces. Clamp the pliers to the gas tube and give it a good pull or tap the pliers with a hammer. Adding some solvent to the sight base may help loosen it up a bit.

i will try that and let y'all know how it goes.

Did you remove the gas tube roll pin first? If so, sometimes they are just a pain to remove due to carbon build up at the gas block.

Has anyone used Brownells Gas tube wrench tool?

I'm thinking of getting armorer's tools this year, but I'm not sure if that thing is worth getting.

Yes they work great, just used one this past weekend.

Not sure how much it is but it's something nice to have

If your replacing your site its always good to replace the gass tube and the gass tube pin just for good measure...

If it aint broke, don't fix it, and certainly don't destroy. Put a little pentrating oil (preferably Kroil) on it and let it sit. It will come out eventually. Those gas tube wrenches work VERY well if you have one available or don't mind investing in one.

That's the tube tool I use, but it was $12 when I bought it.  I have some adjustable gas tubes so I don't want to damage them when removing or installing, $50 each!!

Clamp the tool on the tube and just tap it off the GB with a brass hammer.

Yes thats the tool, but it is not needed.

I would advise replacing the gas tube and roll pin if you have to fight it out of the FSB.  During the twisting and turning I ended up bending mine and it caused some FTF errors when everything was back together.  It didn't even look bent but it would not line up right with the bcg after that.  Roll pins are pretty much a one use item.
