Hey, I'm new to the site and I'm looking to build a plinker, mostly from used parts.  I was wondering are there interchange problems with parts between models / variants?  I've searched the forum but turned up no results, if there is a thread can someone please point me in the right direction?  Thanks

Basically, no.  If all parts are "in spec", it should go together as easily as Legos.

However, since specs can vary from mfr to mfr, one might run into the occasional issue.

Usually no.

Things can get tricky when getting into specifics of the gas system and buffers... and uppers w/o m4 cuts and barrels w/ m4 cuts.. etc..

There are small specifics that can become issues.. but for the most part interchangeability is very easy to do with the AR platform... probably why it is one of the most popular.
