Stumbled on this at the ARFCOM home page. Anyone know anything about it? I'm thinking its a pretty good idea but unsure of the durability of the GPS in the buttstock. How is it embeded in the buttstock? Not too sure about the fact it's going to face outwards from me but I suppose that it's better than getting beat to hell on my gear. What say you?

| So we're going on 24 hours and have 73 views and no replies...no thoughts on the product or just no one knows of any practical application? I'm thinking that this would be good for those that hunt with an AR or those that are going out for land nav and just hope the cadre don't look at the rifle as being a GPS. Ok that last one was pretty loose but still, does anyone else have an opinion on this or did Troy just strike out? |

I see no real purpose for the average joe to buy one of these I'd have to agree. My low post count shows I don't have a lot of time on this forum but I've been a hunter for years and it just doesn't appeal to me. I'd rather have a GPS as a completely handheld (though I'm sure this is removable to update), separate unit, and either use that space for storage or have a slimmer, less obtrusive stock. I think the wide variety of GPS units also may keep people from buying this. There are tons of options and features to select from when purchasing a stand-alone GPS unit and this stock doesn't offer them all. ETA: I see more people adding "strike plates" and using the "Battle axe" stock (Which looks to be this stock without the GPS) so that their rifles are suitable for bashing skulls... this GPS would make me want to baby the thing. Kinda going in two different directions. Not saying it's a bad idea, but it is aimed at a very specific market. |
| This may be TROY's way of trying to get interest in their stock. I would like to here from someone who has tested the stock to see if it's any good. It is a ugly thing. If it works who cares but their doesnt seem to be a lot of interest in that stock by itself nevermind adding a GPS to it. |
