What are the advantages of a Roller Cam in piston and gas impingement systems?

I have an OPS-416 piston set-up and a couple of gas impingement set-ups.

My take on it:
The cam pin channel is a major source of friction in the AR upper. The TM states to keep it heavily lubed, wet enough to push around by the finger. The other friction point is the cartridge, not much to do for that.

If the gun suffers early timing issues, or high pressures (which go hand in hand,) the case will push the bolt back and force the cam pin against the channel, instead of being pulled along by the bolt. That adds more pressure.

It looks like roller cam pin in a properly timed gun wouldn't be needed.  For the cost, it's cheap insurance against high friction in the channel, and probably wouldn't hurt. It's too bad Mike Pannone couldnt have put one in when his gun finally choked after 2,400+ rounds, it would have been interesting to see if it made a difference.

I'm getting a GI cam with my barrel, I'll probably just let it run until it gets replaced. The $25 and S&H can go toward something more necessary, like a rear sight.Maybe later, but that's me. 22 years with the M16, it was never a problem.
