I was putting together a lower yesterday and was at the final stage with the buffer assembly installation.  The buffer detention pin would not fit smoothly in the buffer detention pin well so I got some emory cloth and worked it down in the well to remove the problem.  After a few iterations of this I placed the spring and pin in the well and pushed it down and it went pretty smoothly and then it just seized up.  There's not enough of the pin sticking out to get a tool on and I'm out of ideas on how to remove the pin.

Anybody ever have this problem and if so how did you solve it?

• Needle nose pliers or tweezers even, if you haven't already tried
• Bounce it up and down until it breaks free (does it even have enough movement to bounce?)
• Drill it out and get a new one

Tried needle nose.  Can't get enough bite.
Zero bounce.

A few drops of Kroil in the hole, let it sit, then lightly tap the bottom of the lower with a non-marring mallet.

Thanks.  I just completed an order from Brownell's.  I'll call them tomorrow and see if they can add some Kroil to the order if it hasn't already shipped.

It's good stuff to have around.  I would also try a propane torch on the lower surrounding the hole - you may be able to expand it enough to have it pop out.  Or try going the other direction in a freezer.

you can buy a surgical needle nose pliers at harbor freight for like $2.  but one.. it's always useful to have that tool
