Does anyone have a brake/compensator on a light weight barrel?
What model are you using, any Pics?
I'm looking at the JP Comp
Thanks Dave

I *had* a stag arms comp on a 16" lightweight barrel.  Worked/looked ok but I got tired of pissing off the people in the next lane by blowing gasses in their face so it was replaced with a standard A2 flash hider.  In the end, the recoil is already light enough that I don't think it matters much.

It's for my wife's carbine. Where I shoot it's rare that anyone else is there and we're space 20 yards apart. So noise or blowing someone's hat off with hot gases is nonexistent. The few times a year I do shoot on a public range, I have different guns I like to shoot. I'm looking for something that will get her on target faster and if it works well I'll put one on my gun too.
Did the comp make the carbine seem front heavy? What comp did you use?

I have FSC556 mounted on two light weight builds. Not as annoying as some brakes and works very well. If using on a 16" I would use the PWS TTO or DNTC.

I have a Battlecomp.  It weighs 1.8 oz, which is slighltly less that an A2 FH.

I've only shot it on one range trip so I don't have much experience with it yet.  I shoot at a covered range and I noticed that it is much louder than a normal FH.

Rainier unit on my 20 inch 5.45.

Works great, it changed the weapon from a jumper to steady rifle.

I love it.

I shoot alone, when other people aren't at the range, so that's not an issue for me, but it *is* louder behind the trigger than it was before.

The battle comp is a little too pricey
I was also looking at the Jerry Miculek comp at $50, might be a good experiment

For the money, the Miculek is a fantastic comp.

I've got a Miculek and a Bennie Cooley - very similar brakes that work pretty well. But neither is on a lightweight and they're both big chunks of metal.

I have had good luck from Shrewd's.  They can be had in several profiles and threads from Brownells.  Marty made this one for my .358 HDH which is .730 at the muzzle and I had another guy make one for my .338 Federal, also .730 at the muzzle.  They look the same except for the hole in the end of the break and both work very well.

I have this one.  Haven't used anything to compare it to, but I'm happy.

PWS FSC556

Got one on my 20" rifle and that thing is steady. Not that bad for the shooter either, pretty nasty for someone standing besides you.
