Thanks for the replies- up until this rifle, all my other ARs have been optics based and not-irons, so I'm touch and go right now with this new A2.
Can you guys point me in the right direction for pinning the rear sight base? [And RedFalconBill, why do I need to pin my lower?] |

I would tell you the same as others. Learn to live with it, chances are you'll you'll learn to ignore it. If you absolutely can't live with it there are a couple of extreme measures for those so inclined. I've seen a second detent put on the opposite side, sorry I can't find the instructions for this. In essence it comes down to acquiring a second spring a detent ball. Then drilling the sight on the opposite side to match the existing detent and equalize the pressure on both sides. This person (Steve Wagner, so as to give the appropriate credit) also has a fix though either of these suggestions is quite a bit of work. Personally I probably wouldn't consider either of these fixes unless I already had it apart for a competition sight set up. Crooked Sight Fix Edit: Actually I just looked this up and as someone mentioned Bushmaster makes a sight with dual detent balls. The one I had seen was a DIY set up. |
