How hard is it to fit a different FSB that's been installed on another rifle? I have a carbine that I modded to look somewhat similar to a 607(used a fixed instead of collapsible stock, and a C7 style upper-A1 sights but has the brass deflector bump). It has a bayonet lug, and, of course, the 607 did not.
A friend of mine has a ban-era Bushmaster that he's got torn apart to have the barrel threaded anyway, we thought about trading FSBs and he's have a lug while I saved grinding mine off. I saw on another forum that the holes are drilled in the part and the barrel at the same time(should have realized this but didn't think of it).
Is it possible-and worth the effort-to use his FSB or should I just grind/mill off my bayonet lug and call it good?

Because they are drilled individually the chances of the holes in one FSB lining up with the holes in another barrel are slim to none.

If it could be done, it wouldn't be worth the price, at least for me.  It certainly wouldn't be a DIY job and the last time I checked for a price to install an FSB it was about $90 - assuming no extra charge because of the already drilled items you have.

ETA:  For your project check ADCO's home page.  I think they are offering a bayo cut, flash removal and repark for retro style builds if you don't want to do it yourself.
