Ok guys this may sound like a stupid question but I have looked everywhere and cant find answer. I am looking to buy a 16" bull barrel and just swap out the factory barrel on my Wilson upper. I do not want to make the barrel free float, I am wanting to keep my drop in quad rail. So question is can it be done? Can you swap out to bull barrel and gas block and  use the forearm ring with a free float gas block for drop in hand guards. I am trying to keep this cheap as possible. If it cant be done I am just going to buy a free float bull barrel upper.

You'll have to enlarge the hole in the handguard cap.  I'm guessing you're going to the bull barrel because you want more accuracy?  Not free floating it kind of defeats the purpose.

Thanks..sounds good, I am not looking for accuracy with this install, or yes I would install longer barrel and free float it. I just like the look of the bull barrel.

What is so special about this quad rail?
You are going to need a free float barrel nut.   Anything can be accomplished by time and money

It would help if you posted all info up front

Nothing special about the quad. If I wanted to free float my upper I'm easily looking at at over 400 probably closer to 500. With what I have in mind now...Bull barrel 140 bucks and 40 for the gas block and will not have to change nothing but the barrel itself and the gas block. I will use the barrel nut that I have now since I am not free floating and using drop in quad rail. I have never seen this done with a bull barrel and not free float it cause everyone is going for accuracy. Im going for look mainly, may help the group a little since bull is a stiffer barrel and 1/8 twist.  I am not I have a 308 I shoot for accuracy and distance. Plus a 140 dollar bull barrel probably not the most accurate anyway.

You may be able to get a hand guard end cap from DPMS that will fit a bull barrel as they make bull barreled uppers with standard glacier hand guards installed like this....

....and that would allow you to use your drop in rail.
