Hello, in the process of building my upper.  I know the barrel won't rotate because of the pin going into the upper.  However one thing I don't understand is how do you put on a flash suppressor (such as a birdcage type) so that it is rotated enough and gets tightened enough so that it doesn't unscrew off.  What I mean is once the barrel is on, are you able to screw the suppressor on, and get it tight on the barrel so it is in the correct position it needs to be in?  I have no experience in this, but are the bird cage or what ever flash hiders that are not symetrical, threaded correctly and exact, so as they are tight on the barrel, they are in the correct position or what?  Can someone please explain.  Is my answer just a "yes they are threaded exactly, so once it is tight on the barrel, it is in the correct position", or is there something else I need to do?  Thanks in advance.

Get a shim kit!  They are common.  Try brownells

The "peel" washer will hold it in place.  You troque the bird cage down against the peel washer and it will not move.

Thanks, that is what I needed to know.

Actually, I was thinking about making my own flash hider, and was wondering if I need to worry about how I start the threads, but I guess it doesn't matter.  Thanks fellers.

Crush washer is most commonly used in today's builds.

this..........    If you use a crush washer it will "crush" when you tighten it up so you can properly time your flashsuppressor.

I like the look of the peel washer on a "retro" A2 or BHD carbine build, but its a pain in the ass to get "just right". For a modern build, the crush washer is the way to go.

Also Clamp the barrel as close to the FH as possible. DO NOT use an action block for FH work.

Peel or crush washer take your pick. I like Peel washers, crush are for the lazy. Plush with a peel washer you dont have to ask what way does it go on?
